What were peoples views on the flares?

It was stupid. It seems some fans watch footage of european fans and think its ok, the fact is these flares are banned throughout europe and for good reason.

Agreed. The mentality of some of our fans is idotic. Its all fake...oooo lets try and break stadium rules arent we tough...no you're not your idiots and were laughing at you.

I was close to the flares unfortunately the smoke and chaos it caused was pretty bad...not sure if the club knew about the flares I hope not because if they did they must of known how much trouble this could cause. I'm all for a good atmopshere but tell me how this creates one?

I wasnt that close to them but i didnt need to be the smoke drifted right over us I have a child it wasnt pleasant at all. I hope this is the last time it happens if not I wont be going again and from the opinions of people around me I'm not the only one.

I'm sure the fans werent aware of the stress they were creating and I hope they arent punished, I just hope they are told not to do it again, they made a mistake and that hopefully will be that. Has anyone contacted the club?

I just hope thats the last time we see it...the club want to create a family friendly atmosphere but arent going about it the right way and things like flares wont get people to show up infact much more likely from what I've read and heard drive people away. We want a good atmopshere but I agree with the posters above that flares and other fireworks arent the way to do that. It will just alienate our fans...no-one wants that.

some fans seem obsessed with recreating some european or south american atmopshere, well flares are banned in these countries so its just silly. Its pretty embarassing aswell, why cant we do our own thing without copying others?

You're probably right, I reckon some fans dont care about the team and are just there to do what they want in some lame ultra attempt.

I have mixed feelings about the supporter sections, a good atmosphere is great but these stupid stunts are just over the top and hopefully it will be the last because its simply not needed.

I actually missed this game due to work but have had emails about it, plenty of upset fans. I dont really blame the supporter sections that much I think they made a mistake and will learn from it. Hopefully the club will tell them its not allowed and that will be that.

I'm sure it wont happen again from what the fans around me were saying I'm sure the club had some emails or phone calls about it, but the fact flares are banned from the stadium should be enough to stop it happening again I'm sure no-one knew apart from those fans who let them off that it was about to happen, maybe more searches and heavier stewarding is needed.

Yes nobody wants the fans punished but more told that what they did isnt acceptable and if it happens again there will be actions taken.

A simple ban on flares and smaoke will hopefully end any future problems, should be pretty easy.
